Our Commitment to Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. Pure Wine Online is continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.
Conformance Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.
The guidelines have three levels of accessibility: A, AA, and AAA. We have chosen Level AA as the target for purewineonline.com because it addresses the most common barriers for disabled users while remaining achievable across all areas of the site.
Measures Taken
Pure Wine Online takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of purewineonline.com:
- Semantic HTML elements are used to convey structure and meaning
- Keyboard navigation is supported throughout the site
- Color contrast ratios meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum requirements
- ARIA attributes are used where appropriate to enhance screen reader compatibility
- Focus management is implemented for dynamic content and modal dialogs
- Loading states use ARIA live regions to announce changes to assistive technologies
- Error messages are associated with their respective form fields
- Skip-to-content links are provided for keyboard users
Known Limitations
While we strive for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance across the entire site, the following areas have known limitations that we are actively working to address:
- Image alt text coverage may vary depending on content upload quality. We are reviewing and improving alt text across all media.
- Some complex administrative interfaces may need additional ARIA labeling. These areas are under active improvement.
- The checkout flow is under continuous improvement for accessibility. We are working to ensure all steps of the purchase process are fully accessible.
We are committed to addressing these gaps and regularly audit the site for accessibility issues.
